[Expo ] ‘Lost in Landscapes’ @ Galerie Dessers

Herman Maes’s landscapes are deliberately indeterminate. His focus isn’t on topographical accuracy but on the search itself — a meditation charged with the breath of solitary reflection, regardless of company or surroundings. These are intuitive vistas devoid of figures, imagined inner landscapes overlaid with hints of hills, mountains, or seas. The frame is never closed off, allowing the viewer’s gaze to dissolve into what a landscape might be: infinitely open, endlessly free.
